Vietnam expressway deal progressing

Plans for Vietnam’s North-South expressway are progressing, with work moving ahead for key portions of the route’s eastern spur. Plans for Vietnam’s North-South expressway are progressing, with work moving ahead for key portions of the route’s eastern spur. A feasibility study has been carried out for the 29km Nha Trang-Cam Lam stretch, which is planned as a PPP project and is expected to cost around US$225 million. Feasibility studies for a further five portions of the North-South expressway are being carried out and should be ready shortly, with three feasibility studies already having been accepted in May 2018.     Discussions are being held in Myanmar with regard to the country’s Elevated Expressway Project. The Myanmar Government has been in talks with the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The project is expected to cost US$400 million, with work due to commence in 2019 and likely to require 24-36 months to complete. Building the 24km expressway will improve transport between the north and south of Yangon City. The project will be carried out under the PPP model, with IFC advising on the work.
