US$504 million for Morocco motorway revamps

A budget of US$504 million is being set for motorway upgrades around Casablanca in Morocco.

The motorway connections around Casablanca in Morocco will benefit from US$504 million for upgrade works. The improvements will focus on the connections to the new Grand Stadium of Casablanca. This is being constructed for the 2030 football World Cup, as some of the games will be played at the facility.

The new links will improve traffic connections to nearby Ben Slimane to the east of the city and Mohammedia to the north east of Casablanca.

A portion of the funding for the work is being provided by the Société Nationale des Autoroutes du Maroc (ADM), Morocco's national road management authority, as well as from the Regional Council. However, the majority of the funding will be provided by the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Equipment and Water. The project has been approved by the Regional Council of Casablanca-Settat and the work is being managed by a committee set up for the purpose.
