US$177mn to build Bolivia’s Caracollo-Confital road, vice-president states

The construction of a 74km road between Caracollo and Confital in Bolivia will cost around US$177 million, the country’s vice-president Alvaro Garcia Linera has revealed. The contract for the project has been put out to tender. Companies have until 8 November 2013 to submit their proposals. The contract will be signed on 23 December 2013.

    A project to improve Bolivia’s existing 77.8km road between San Ignacio de Moxos and Trinidad will cost US$129.3 million, the government has announced.   • Major plan for Bolivian highway expansion underway

    Bolivia has a major programme of highway expansion and improvements underway at present in a plan designed to improve the country’s transport links. The programme includes 16 double-lane highways being built, costing some US$1.85 billion in all. The work is being managed by the state-run road administration company ABC.
