Upgrade of Slovakia’s busy D1 stretch to start in H2 2014

Slovak national motorway company NDS plans to start the reconstruction and modernisation of the D1 motorway section between Bratislava and Trnava in H2 2014. As part of the near €150 million project, the current six-lane motorway will be extended by adding an emergency lane. The building works are expected to last 24 months and will include demolition and reconstruction of some of the existing road bridges, as well as construction of new ones. The motorway lanes will be extended from the current 3.5m to 3.

Slovak national motorway company 5891 NDS plans to start the reconstruction and modernisation of the D1 motorway section between Bratislava and Trnava in H2 2014.

As part of the near €150 million project, the current six-lane motorway will be extended by adding an emergency lane. The building works are expected to last 24 months and will include demolition and reconstruction of some of the existing road bridges, as well as construction of new ones. The motorway lanes will be extended from the current 3.5m to 3.75m.

NDS is currently preparing the tenders for the documentation for the project and the supplier of the construction works.

    Slovak contractors Vahostav-SK and TuCon will build the first stage of the 4.3km northern bypass in Presov on the R4 dual carriageway. The contract was awarded in an open tender by Slovakia’s motorway company NDS. The consortium offered the lowest price of just under €143 million against around €170 million as estimated by NDS which says work will start this summer.     Skanska has won a contract with the National Highway Authority (NDS) to extend the 14.4km long motorway D1 in eastern Slovakia. The new motorway will include 23 bridges and four viaducts, along with required noise protection. Another R2/R4 express road will also be extended.
