Upgrade required for key Canadian tunnel link

A major upgrade project is to be carried out for Montreal’s Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel in Canada. The work is expected to cost US$386 million (C$500 million) and will commence in 2020. A major upgrade project is to be carried out for Montreal’s Louis-Hippolyte-La Fontaine Tunnel in Canada. The work is expected to cost US$386 million (C$500 million) and will commence in 2020.     The US state of Virginia has approved a US$4 billion project to expand the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel close to the city of Norfolk.

    The state has been looking at designs for the past 20 years to improve traffic flow in the area, according to a report in the Virginian-Pilot newspaper.
