Udmurt Republic seeing roads rehabilitation

A major road upgrade programme is being planned for the Udmurt Republic, part of the Russian Federation. The road system in the Udmurt Republic measures some 17,400km in all. There are also 363 key bridges and overpasses, which measures some 13km in all. However neglect of the links has resulted in 12 of the bridges and overpasses becoming in serious need of repair. Russian Highways (Avtodor) aims to construct 958km of roads, as well as to reconstruct 963km of road and improve 700km of road bed by 2019. The 684km M11 highway linking Moscow with St Petersburg is the top-priority. A 72km bypass road will be built in the Tver region.
