Two Polish road projects moving aheaaad

Work on two sections of the S17 highway in Poland will now go ahead following the granting of permission from the local authorities in the Mazowieckie area. In total the two stretches of the S17 will measure over 25km long. One of the stretches will connect Gonczyce with the ring road around Garwolin and will measure 12.2km. Work on two sections of the S17 highway in Poland will now go ahead following the granting of permission from the local authorities in the Mazowieckie area. In total the two stretches of the S17 will measure over 25km long. One of the stretches will connect Gonczyce with the ring road around Garwolin and will measure 12.2km. The other stretch runs from Lubelskie through Mazowieckie to Gonczyce and is 13km long. The work is being carried out by the contractor Budimex. Work on a further 95km stretch of the S17 connecting Warsaw with Lublin is being carried out in seven separate sections. In all this project is costing €744.44 million and is due for completion in 2019.

    Plans are underway for the Warsaw Ring Road project in Poland. Italian contractor Astaldi made the lowest offer for the project at €289.95 million. The work calls for a 4.6km section of the route to be constructed, including what will be Poland’s longest road tunnel once complete. There have been 10 bidders for the tender, being handled by the Polish road authority GDDKiA. Other bidders included the Porr Polska consortium and a construction consortium comprising contractors Budimex and Strabag.

The Chinese contractor China Overseas Engineering Group Co (Covec) is appealing against a decision made by the Polish national road authority GDDKiA.
