The tender process for Turkey's third Bosphorus Bridge is due to commence on 23rd August 2011. The project will be built under the build-operate-transfer model. This forms part of a massive investment in infrastructure in Turkey. The country has a major highway building programme in place at present, including rebuilding of the road connecting commercial centre Istanbul with the seat of government and capital, Ankara. In addition, construction of five new airports in the country will be completed by the end of 2011. This will bring the total number of airports in Turkey to 51. In 2012, a further two new city airports in Mersin and Ordu will be built.
