Plans are being worked on for a tunnel connecting the town of Rho with Milan's Linate airport. The proposals suggest an 11.5km tunnel capable of handling up to 110,00 cars/day. The current link to the airport is prone to congestion and the new tunnel would ease the traffic issues and reduce journey times on the route. Should the plan go ahead the work would take around six years to complete. However work should start in 2011 for the link to be ready for the Milan Expo 2015 according to engineering firm 3481 Condotte, which has worked on the proposals.
