Tunisia’s key highways being planned

Tunisia is working on a series of major new highway connections. The new highway connecting Bou Salem with Beja and Oued Zarga should be ready for traffic in the third quarter of 2016. This will provide a highway link all the way from capital Tunis to Bou Salem, as the A3 previously stopped at Oued Zarga. Tunisia is working on a series of major new highway connections. The new highway connecting Bou Salem with Beja and Oued Zarga should be ready for traffic in the third quarter of 2016. This will provide a highway link all the way from capital Tunis to Bou Salem, as the A3 previously stopped at Oued Zarga. In addition, the new highway connecting Gabès with Medenine in the south of Tunisia will be complete by the end of 2017. Meanwhile the winner of the tender process for the study into the El Kef highway connection will be announced shortly. The El Kef highway link is expected to cost US$272.5 million in all, with the work planned to be split into four separate sections.

    Progress is being made in Chile for two key mega projects, the Chacao Bridge and the El Melon Tunnel. Chile's Ministry of Public Works (MOP) has ordered the consortium working on the Chacao Bridge project to carry out additional studies.     The invitation to tender for the Kairouan-Sousse motorway will be issued in early September, according to Tunis Afrique Press. Mohamed Salah Arfaoui, the Tunisian Minister for Infrastructure, Housing and Territorial Development, made the announcement, saying that the project is expected to cost around US$70 million.
