Transport development for Mindanao in Philippines

A series of transportation projects are in hand for Mindanao in the Philippines. A series of transportation projects are in hand for Mindanao in the Philippines. The Philippines' Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) has said that the Mindanao Development Corridors' major infrastructure component will cost some US$14.02 billion in all. Of the total, some $5.6 billion will be spent on airports, seaports and roads. MinDA intends that these projects will get underway out in the next two years, with work planned for completion in five years.

A new bridge has been proposed that will connect the Island Garden City of Samal to the Mindanao mainland. At the moment discussions are still in hand regarding the proposed route. One option is for the bridge to run from the Davao City to the island while another is for the bridge to run from Panobo. The former route will be shorter and therefore less costly to construct. Korea Engineering and Construction (Korea Engineering) hopes to handle the feasibility study for the bridge. Both ends of the bridge in the Samal to Panabo City proposal will be in the Davao del Norte province. A $2.02 million budget was authorised for the feasibility study by the 6316 National Economic and Development Authority, after it received a recommendation by the Davao Regional Development Council (RDC).
