Three new highways planned for Thailand

In Thailand, official approval has been given for three new highways to connect major cities. The three new highways will cost an estimated US$4.92 billion in all to construct. The project to construct the Bang Yai-Ban Pong-Kanchanaburi highway will cost $1.71 billion and the work is due for completion in 36 months. In Thailand, official approval has been given for three new highways to connect major cities. The three new highways will cost an estimated US$4.92 billion in all to construct. The project to construct the Bang Yai-Ban Pong-Kanchanaburi highway will cost $1.71 billion and the work is due for completion in 36 months. Construction of the Pattaya-Map Ta Phut highway is expected to be complete in around 30 months and is costing $621 million. The Bang Pa-in via Saraburi to Nakhon Ratchasima highway meanwhile is costing $2.6 billion to build and the work is scheduled for completion in 36 months.

    Additional financing is required to help progress work on Thailand’s Bang Yai-Kanchanaburi highway project. An extra US$244 million is needed to push ahead with the work, which has been delayed due to problems in buying land. A key issue is that land costs have doubled in the area since the project was first approved by the Government of Thailand. Just 25% of the land required has so far been purchased.
