Work is now underway for upgrading of another stretch of I-35 in Austin, Texas. This second stage of the I-35 improvement project is being carried out by contractor Pulice Construction.

The I-35 improvement project is seeing 45km of the route being upgraded at a total cost of US$5.65 billion. This second stage of the project being handled by Pulice Construction is a $606 million package of works. Pulice will add a new HOV lane in either direction to I-35 for the stretch between state from SH 45 North to US 290 East.

The Interstate 35 Capital Express North project is being managed by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and should take five years to carry out. The project is intended to boost traffic flow and cut congestion. The highway currently experiences regular traffic delays for drivers.

The work includes a new high-occupancy vehicle lane in each direction along I-35. Also included will be upgrade works for six bridges along the route. Ramps and intersections will also be improved, including a diverging diamond interchange at Wells Branch Parkway. In addition, pedestrian and bicycle paths will be constructed as well as new safety and mobility improvements being carried out.
