6343 Fluor Corporation is to handle a contract in Texas for the construction of the 3499 Texas Department of Transportation’s (TxDOT) US 287 Project in Ellis County. The site is located to the south of Dallas and Fluor will book the undisclosed contract value in the first quarter of 2017.

“This is a significant strategic milestone for Fluor and will not only help us firmly establish our position in the bid-build market, but also help us to expand our market offering beyond the traditional design-build and private public partnerships,” said Hans Dekker, president of Fluor’s Infrastructure business. “Fluor was selected from a highly competitive field and we look forward to working with the TxDOT to complete this project on time and on budget.”

The project will widen approximately 7.2km of US 287 from two lanes to a four-lane, divided asphalt highway with continuous frontage roads. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring of 2017 and will take approximately two years to complete.

The investment by TxDOT in the expansion of US 287, a main arterial route in Ennis, is part of the overall development of Ellis County and will continue the commercial and industrial development of the area.

This is the first project win for Fluor’s heavy civil business, a regional platform to further develop Fluor’s self-perform construction capabilities in Texas and support the growing demand for infrastructure development and investment.
