A new bridge is being built in Taiwan and is due for completion by June 2016.

A new bridge is being built in Taiwan and is due for completion by June 2016. The bridge will be constructed at Kinmen and will measure 5.4km long. The structure will link Little Kinmen (Lieyu) with Kinmen Island (Greater Kinmen). The project is costing US$239 million. The progress of the construction work is being monitored by the Taiwan Area National Expressway Engineering Bureau.

    On Aug 1st 2017, it was 10 years since the I-35W Bridge in Minneapolis collapsed. The bridge had been classified as structurally deficient and was undergoing repair at the time. However the repairs focussed on the decking rather than the structure, with the additional weight of the extra asphalt layers and the construction machinery parked adding to the total load and contributing to the collapse.
