St Petersburg sets out road development plan

St Petersburg Committee’s for Transport Infrastructure Development (KRTI) is setting out a strategy for road infrastructure development. The KRTI says that the city’s road network will be extended from 3,350 to 3,510 km in the 2015-2020 period. Meanwhile the KRTI also hopes to improve the condition of the city’s roads. At present around 30% of the city’s roads are in a poor state but the plans call for this to be reduced to 15% by 202 following the introduction of better road maintenance planning. A major p

St Petersburg Committee’s for Transport Infrastructure Development (KRTI) is setting out a strategy for road infrastructure development. The KRTI says that the city’s road network will be extended from 3,350 to 3,510 km in the 2015-2020 period. Meanwhile the KRTI also hopes to improve the condition of the city’s roads. At present around 30% of the city’s roads are in a poor state but the plans call for this to be reduced to 15% by 202 following the introduction of better road maintenance planning. A major programme of works will also see improvements to structures such as bridges during the same time period. In all some US$4.91 billion will be required to deliver the necessary road transport improvements.

The budget of US$6.41 billion for the work has been set by the South Korean Government.   • Road repairs needed in St Petersburg

    A report from the St Petersburg Administration suggests that up to 18% of the city’s roads are currently unfit for use. Plans were made in the third quarter of 2012 to repair about 33% of these damaged road links in the second quarter of 2013. The official data reveals that the city currently has 56,500km of roads.
