St Petersburg project completion date set

In Russia the completion date for the Suzdalsky Prospekt project in St Petersburg has been set for June 2015. The works will see Suzdalsky Prospekt linking with the road to Kamenka. The project is costing some US$124.2 million. The project is being carried out by contractor Dendorstroy-2, with construction having commenced in 2011. The project was originally scheduled to finish in 2013 but was postponed for a year due to issues relating to financing.

Construction company Flora was awarded a €187.6 million contract for an 11km section of the ring road in 2008, winning the tender by making the lowest bid. However, the Russian authorities have taken the contract for this section of the ring road away from Flora claiming it did not meet set targets. Flora is disputing the loss of the contract with the authorities.

    Contractor VAD now looks likely to carry out rebuilding work for the northern stretch of St Petersburg’s Ring Road. This section of the ring road runs between the Priozerskoye Highway and the Western High-Speed Diameter route. VAD’s bid for the 14.3km stretch has received approval from the tender commission. The work will cost just over US$100 million to be carried out and should be complete by November 2020.
