Spain’s Ermua bypass tender

The provincial council for Vizcaya in the Basque Country, northern Spain, has, via the company Interbiak, tendered the construction of the Ermua bypass, aimed at easing traffic on the busy N-634. The tender budget is €89.35 million and work is scheduled to start in summer 2014, with a scheduled completion date in 2017. The new road stretch is expected to be used daily by 9,000-12,000 vehicles. Part of the road will be a tunnel and part will be overground, creating two contracts in the tender.

    In Denmark’s northern Jutland, Leica Geosystems’ equipment is being used to help build a 40km motorway, one of the fastest-built such projects in the country’s history. The Danish Road Directorate is the client for the €5.4 million motorway between the two Danish cities of Herning, to the south with around 50,000 people, and Holstebro, a city of about 35,000 people, north of Herning.     In the Czech Republic the new Frydek-Mistek bypass project is being planned. The tender process for the work is expected to commence in early 2015. The project has received the necessary approvals, which is now allowing the tender process to get underway. The work is being planned by the Czech road management company RSD and is expected to cost in the region of €136.4 million. The project bypass will feature some 22 bridges and the work is expected to be complete by 2018.
