South Korea connection under construction

Construction has commenced on a contract to build a new 27km road link in South Korea. The road will connect the northern and southern regions of South Korea’s Saemanguem area. The work is costing US$813 million and is being carried out in two stages. The first stage of the project should be complete by 2022.

    Construction work is commencing on a key contract in Malaysia to build a new bridge. The US$106.4 million project is being handled by the contractor Naza EC and is for the construction of the 1.5km long Bagan Datuk Bridge, as well as an 8.7km long link road. The work is intended to improve transport connections between Malaysia’s Bagan Datuk, Perak Tengah, and Manjung districts.   • Nepalese highways will benefit from Chinese funding

    The Chinese Government is providing neighbouring Nepal with expertise and funding for the ring road development around capital Kathmandu. This has been arranged through a bilateral agreement between the Chinese and Nepalese governments. The programme of works is getting under way and will see the widening of 27km of the ring road from its present four lanes to eight lanes in all. The Chinese Government funded the detailed survey design although the contractor has yet to be selected for the project.

  • Northern Vietnam’s new coastal highway link

    Work on a new 550km-long coastal highway is to commence in northern Vietnam. The highway will be built across five provinces and will connect with Haiphong City. The planned route will run through the provinces of Thanh Hoa, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh and Quang Ninh. The project should be complete by 2020 should all go to plan and is to be carried out under the PPP model. The cost of the entire highway has yet to be revealed.     Construction work on Colombia’s landmark Yati-Bodega bridge is already 50% complete. The 2.3km Puente de la Reconciliacion Bridge spans the Magdalena River and when complete, will be the longest in the country.
