Soilmec’s strong sales into China

Piling specialist Soilmec says it is seeing strong sales for its highly advanced SC135 rig. Although this model is new to the market, the firm says it has already sold five of the units into China. Soilmec’s sophisticated SC-135 piling rig is already attracting customers in China

Piling specialist 2959 Soilmec says it is seeing strong sales for its highly advanced SC135 rig. Although this model is new to the market, the firm says it has already sold five of the units into China. In all nine machines have been supplied recently by Soilmec for work in China, with the equipment being utilised for building a new metro system in Guangzhou.

The company is also looking to supply equipment for the planned new line for the Shanghai metro. With several metro lines already running underneath the city, the new line will have to be considerably deeper and perhaps down to 100-120m. According to Soilmec, this project will require highly sophisticated diaphragm wall construction something it believes its equipment can carry out efficiently and productively. .  

With strong competition now from local manufacturers, Soilmec says it is focussing on the market for larger machines or more specialist equipment.
