Slovakia’s roads and bridges to be improved

A new plan from Slovakia’s Ministry for Transport and Construction will see upgrade work being carried out to 180km of major roads and 60 or more bridges. A finance package of €200 million has been secured for the work, which will be carried out over the next 36 months. A new plan from Slovakia’s Ministry for Transport and Construction will see upgrade work being carried out to 180km of major roads and 60 or more bridges. A finance package of €200 million has been secured for the work, which will be carried out over the next 36 months. This programme of works is being financed by the OP Integrated Infrastructure (OPII) fund.

At present, 122km of dual carriageways and motorways are under construction in Slovakia according to the state-owned road firm NDS. Completion of the D1 route has been prioritised.

    Nicaragua’s Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure (MTI) is setting out its road development programme for 2018. In all the plans call for the construction of 171km of roads.     Funding is now secured for the Budimir-Bidovce stretch of Slovakia’s D1 highway project. In addition, the funding for the Kosicke Olsany-Hrasovik stretch of the R2-R4 expressway has been secured. The EU’s Cohesion Fund will supply €173 million for the work, which is intended to cut congestion and journey times. New interchanges and noise reduction systems will be built.
