Skanska will carry out an important highway contract in Slovakia. The work is for the completion of a section of the D1 highway, which will include building the Visnove Tunnel. The package of works is worth close to €255 million and was awarded to Skanska by the Slovakian state road firm, NDS.

The section of the highway lies between Lietavska Lucka and Dubna Skala. The most challenging aspect of the contract will be the construction of the 7.5km Visnove Tunnel. The schedule calls for the section to be complete by 2023.
