Slovakia to use €4bn EU funding on roads

Slovakia plans to use €4 billion of its €15.3 billion EU funding package for 2014-2020 on road projects. The projects include the construction of several new stretches of the D1 and D3 motorways, as well as repairs and modernisations of Class II and Class III roads. The government in cooperation with the regions are currently drafting a strategic plan for the development and maintenance of roads at a regional level.

    In Slovakia plans are in hand for work to the D3 route that will involve the construction of a flyover, a bridge and a tunnel. The flyover lies on the stretch of D3 between Zilina/Strazov and Zilina/Brodno. Work on this 4.25km section of the D3 is costing close to €255 million.
