Singapore highway deals signed

A series of highway deals have been signed in Singapore that will help boost transport in the island state.

Three are for the North-South Corridor (NSC) expressway project, with two having been awarded to South Korean contractor Hyundai Engineering & Construction. The firm’s contracts are worth over US$425 million project will include building a stretch of viaduct between Yishun Avenue 5 and Admiralty Road West.

A consortium comprising Chinese contractors, China Railway 11 Bureau Group Corporation, Wai Fong Construction and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, will build a stretch of viaduct from Yishun Avenue 5 to Sungei Seletar. This contract is worth $264.5 million.

Kenya has commenced the process of rehabilitating, expanding and tolling of 657km of East Africa’s Northern Corridor that is anchored on the Indian Ocean port of Mombasa and which links the gateway with landlocked countries of Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and parts of eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
