Serbian connection on target

Work is progressing well on the Beska Bridge over the Danube River in Serbia.

Work is progressing well on the Beska Bridge over the Danube River in Serbia. Over 80% of the work for the 2.25km long bridge has now has been completed. Once it is complete, the bridge will form a key link in the Corridor 10 highway. In addition around 180km of the Corridor 10 motorway will be built in Serbia during 2011, running from Subotica through Novi Sad, Belgrade, Nis and Dimitrovgrad towards Vranje.

    Serbia has managed to reduce the cost of building the Corridor 10 highway by €80 million. These funds will instead be used to pay for upgrades and improvements needed for the second section of the highway project, close to Neradovci. So far some 180km of the Corridor 10 highway has been built over a 40 month time frame. A further 150km of the highway has still to be built. Work on the Corridor 10 motorway is also being financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the state budget.

    DELAYS are facing construction work on Serbia’s Corridor 10 highway project. The country’s present administration has explained that the previous government left debts of €300 million and that many planned projects had been left uncompleted, with only the draft of the Serbian Urban Plan being finished.
