Work is progressing well on the Beska Bridge over the Danube River in Serbia.

Work is progressing well on the Beska Bridge over the Danube River in Serbia. Over 80% of the work for the 2.25km long bridge has now has been completed. Once it is complete, the bridge will form a key link in the Corridor 10 highway. In addition around 180km of the Corridor 10 motorway will be built in Serbia during 2011, running from Subotica through Novi Sad, Belgrade, Nis and Dimitrovgrad towards Vranje.

    Serbia will cooperate with Albania on construction of the proposed Nis-Merdare-Prishtina motorway, according to media reports. Serbian vice president and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlovic, said that the motorway will be part of a larger project to give faster access, through Pristina, capital of Kosovo, to Albania’s Adriatic Sea port of Drac.

    Plans are now being worked on for a new highway that will connect Serbia with Albania, running through Kosovo. The project is momentous and marks a considerable diplomatic advance, given that Serbia’s past relations with its neighbour Kosovo and Albania have been less than harmonious in the recent past. This new move is seeing a Technical Working Group comprised of experts from Albania and Serbia looking into the construction of a new highway link between the two countries, as well as new railway connection
