Serbian connection on target

Work is progressing well on the Beska Bridge over the Danube River in Serbia.

Work is progressing well on the Beska Bridge over the Danube River in Serbia. Over 80% of the work for the 2.25km long bridge has now has been completed. Once it is complete, the bridge will form a key link in the Corridor 10 highway. In addition around 180km of the Corridor 10 motorway will be built in Serbia during 2011, running from Subotica through Novi Sad, Belgrade, Nis and Dimitrovgrad towards Vranje.

    Construction will commence on the new connection from Kosovo’s capital Pristina to Nis in Serbia. The first stretch of the highway to be built will be the 77km section from Nis to Merdare in Serbia. The project is expected to cost €212 million, with a portion of the funding at least being provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB).     Serbia and China have signed a memorandum of understanding for construction of two sections of Serbia’s Corridor 11. The MoU was inked in during Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic’s visit to the Chinese capital Beijing last week.     Serbia and Bosnia have started talks on constructing a fast highway between the Serbian capital Belgrade and Sarajevo, capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
