Serbia transport infrastructure development programme

Serbia is developing a major transport infrastructure development programme.

Serbia plans to spend €5 billion on developing the country's road transport and infrastructure network. This will be invested in the road network by 2025, forming the country’s Serbia 2025 plan.

The country’s Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure says that preparations are already underway for work to build 400km of new highway links. Construction is now being carried out for the Moravski Koridor, and Preljina-Pozega highway routes.

    Talks between the Chinese Development Bank and the Serbian Government could result in Chinese funding for Serbian highway projects. The Danube coast project and the Corridor 11 highway project have been identified. Some €400-€450 million of Chinese financing could be made available to Serbia for highway projects following the most recent series of discussions. Serbia’s Ministry for Transport is also in talks with Chinese partners for the construction of a series of highway projects.

  • Russia is setting out a new road development budget

    Russia is setting out plans for development of its transport network, with road construction and maintenance amongst the areas being prioritised. The new plan will run from 2016-2021 and has been established by the Transport Ministry. In all the country intends to spend close to US$90 billion developing transportation. The construction of new federal highways and rebuilding of existing links will be high on the agenda for action. During 2016, the plans call for 360km of new motorways opening for traffic.

  • Serbia highway projects moving ahead

    Progress is being seen in Serbia with regard to some of the country’s key highway projects. The Ljig-Preljina stretch of the Corridor 11 highway will open for traffic at the end of October 2016.
