Serbia highway tendering

The tender process is opening in Serbia for a major new highway construction project. The Moravski Koridor project involves the construction of a new highway measuring 112km in all. Bidding is opening for the project, which will improve journey times between Pojate and Preljina in central Serbia although estimated costs for the work have not so far been released.

    Serbia has managed to reduce the cost of building the Corridor 10 highway by €80 million. These funds will instead be used to pay for upgrades and improvements needed for the second section of the highway project, close to Neradovci. So far some 180km of the Corridor 10 highway has been built over a 40 month time frame. A further 150km of the highway has still to be built. Work on the Corridor 10 motorway is also being financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the state budget.

    Serbia’s Obrenovac-Preljina highway is due to be completed by 2017. Serbia’s Ministry of Construction says that the Obrenovac-Preljina and Ljig-Preljina routes are being financed with the aid of a €274.5 million loan from China's Exim Bank, worth a total of USD 301mn (EUR 274.48mn), while the state budget secured a total of €30.1 million. Meanwhile, €300 million of funding has been secured from Azerbaijan for construction of the Ljig-Preljina route. Corridor 11, between Obrenovac and Preljina will be 105km

    The plans for Chile's new Vespucio Oriente highway are under a question mark at present. The Chilean Construction Chamber (CChC) and the association of concession-holders (COPSA) have raised concerns over the plans by the country's government to press ahead with the construction of the 13km Vespucio Oriente highway in capital Santiago.
