Russian road revamp

Rebuilding work on Moscow’s Warshavsoye Shosse highway is due to commence shortly. The work looks set to be carried out by the ARKS Group, although final details of the contract have yet to be agreed. The work is expected to cost in the order of US$381 million to carry out. Work will include building a section of elevated road, a tunnel, seven pedestrian underpasses, and a two-level interchange. The project is due for completion by 2013.

    All three of Moscow’s main airports are to benefit from major upgrades to their road connections. The authorities in the Russian capital have plans to repair and improve eight key connecting roads to Vnukovo, Domodedovo, and Sheremetyevo airports and with a target date for completion in 2015.   • Zambia road surfacing upgrade

    Work is starting on an upgrade for a 100km stretch of road in Zambia. The route connects Nchelenge and Chiengi districts and will benefit from a new asphalt surface. The project is costing US$77 million and is being carried out by the contractor Sinohydro Zambia. Delays to the work have been caused by heavy rains however. The Zambian Government has paid an initial $3.8 million for the work to be carried out and the project is expected to take two years to complete.

  • Chinese expressway to commence construction

    A new expressway project is due to commence in China in early 2019. The work is expected to cost US$1.37 billion and involves upgrading the Meiguan Expressway. The work will be carried out over an 8km stretch between the Qinghu Flyover and Meilin Tollgate. The work involves work to 25 tunnels and eight interchange flyovers, as well as a number of pedestrian underpasses and footbridges. The project is planned to utilise the latest 3D and BIM software technology.
