Russian road rebuilding for Siberia

Russia is spending heavily on improving roads in Siberia’s Novosibirsk Region during 2019. Federal funding worth US$75 million will be used to pay for work in the Novosibirsk Region. The work includes carrying on with work for the Eastern Bypass around Novosibirsk and rebuilding a stretch of the R-254 Irtysh Federal Highway in Kochenevo District, lying to the west of Novosibirsk. Russia is spending heavily on improving roads in Siberia’s Novosibirsk Region during 2019. Federal funding worth US$75 million will be used to pay for work in the Novosibirsk Region. The work includes carrying on with work for the Eastern Bypass around Novosibirsk and rebuilding a stretch of the R-254 Irtysh Federal Highway in Kochenevo District, lying to the west of Novosibirsk.   • New Russian bridge planned

    A new bridge will be built in Russia’s North-West region. The bridge will span the Sheksna River at Cherepovets. The project is expected to cost US$247.5 million. Preparatory works will commence during 2019 and the approach roads to the link are being improved. The 1.13km bridge will be the longest in the Vologda Region and should be ready by 2022. A new 8km southern bypass for Cherepovets with three lanes in either direction will also be built as part of a wider plan to improve transport for the city.

  • Kaliningrad Russian enclave revamping roads

    Russia’s Kaliningrad enclave has set a budget of over US$180 million for road development during the 2019-2021 period. This will be used for maintaining and improving existing roads, as well as developing new links. Regional and municipal roads will benefit from the spending programme. Although Kaliningrad is itself Russian territory, it lies in between Poland and Lithuania and is separated from the rest of Russia.
