Three major bridge projects are now being planned in Russia. One is for a bridge spanning the Lena River in the Sakha Repubic in the far east. The other bridges will span the Volkhov River in Kirishi District and the Svir River in Podporozhye District.

The Lena River crossing will connect the Lena, Kolyma and Vilyuy Federal Highways and will be constructed under the PPP model by the National Infrastructure Company Consortium. Design work for the new bridge will be carried out in 2020, with the construction work expected to commence in 2021 and due for completion in 2025. The aim of the project is to improve transport connections  in the region and help revitalise the area’s economy.

Meanwhile the Volkhov River and Svir River crossings will be built by EuroTransStroy (ETS). The Volkhov River bridge contract is worth US$56.7 million while the Svir River bridge deal is worth $54.04 million.
