Romania's new tunnel deal

A consortium will build a new tunnel in Romania as part of the Orastie-Sibiu highway project.

A consortium will build a new tunnel in Romania as part of the Orastie-Sibiu highway project. The tunnel lies on the section of highway between kilometres 71+870 and 72+210 and the project was awarded by Romania's National Highways and Roads Company. The consortium carrying out the contract comprises 1324 Astaldi, 3172 Euroconstruct Trading 98 and 3173 Astalrom. In all work on the tunnel for the Orastie-Sibiu highway will cost €113.56 million. Meanwhile the Transport Ministry in Romania is planning to allocate around €84.3 million for repair works to sections of road totalling 183.5km in the counties of Caras-Severin, Timis, Tulcea, Ialomita and Brasov.
