Romania route – project awarded

The contracts for a major highway project in Romania have been awarded. The project is for the construction of the highway from Craiova to Pitesti. The Italian contractor, Tirrena Scavi, has a €76 million package of works to build an 18km stretch of the highway. Meanwhile local firms forming part of the Dorinel Umbrarescu Group have a €309 million package of works to build a 40km stretch of the route.

    The Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta has revealed that five consortia have entered bids to land the contract for the construction of the €2.08 billion (RON 9bn) 121km Pitesti-Craiova highway. The deadline for the submission of bids was 8 May 2013. Offers were submitted by a consortium formed by Romanian companies such as Spedition UMB, Tehnostrade and Vectra Service.
