Road upgrade for key South African connection

Plans are in hand in South Africa for road improvements to a key link between Pongola and eDumbe. The work involves improvements to some 77km of road in all and is expected to cost in the region of US$113 million.

Plans are in hand in South Africa for road improvements to a key link between Pongola and eDumbe. The work involves improvements to some 77km of road in all and is expected to cost in the region of US$113 million. The project is being planned by the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport, with the first stage of the project underway and involving improvements to a 6.5km stretch of the D-1867 road. The work is expected to be complete by the 2019-2020 fiscal year and is helping provide jobs to the local communities involved.
