Punjab State pushes ahead in road development

India's Punjab State is amongst the country's leading areas with regard to the development of new road and highway connections. The next two years will see US$1.43 billion of road projects being completed in the state. Seven key projects will link of the state's major cities with four or six-lane highways.

India's Punjab State is amongst the country's leading areas with regard to the development of new road and highway connections. The next two years will see US$1.43 billion of road projects being completed in the state. Seven key projects will link of the state's major cities with four or six-lane highways. Punjab State has also opened four new projects including the Railway Under Bridge at Mansa and Railway Over Bridge at Budhlada. Three major roads are expected to be completed by June 2011 including a six lane highway connecting Jalandhar with Panipat.

  • Punjab drives ahead with new $27m road repair plan

    The Punjab state government has approved a new national highway repair and maintenance budget of US $27 million (Rs 150 crore). Public works minister Sharanjit Singh Dhillon said that the decision was taken at a “high-level” emergency meeting held earlier this month to review the way in which the Indian state is running it ongoing road construction and maintenance programme.
