Authorities in Malta are continuing to examine options with regard to a road link connecting to the neighbouring island of Gozo.

A competition was put forward to design a new bridge link between Malta and Gozo by 3278 ITS Malta.

However the authorities are now evaluating the feasibility of building a tunnel.

Should the bridge link be a preferred option it would be routed through the small island of Comino between Malta and Gozo.

Should any potential project look sufficiently promising, outside funding will have to be sourced as the Maltese government has not budgeted for the necessary finances that would be required to construct a bridge.
