Plans for Mersey Gateway Bridge project

The UK Government is now considering the report on the proposed Mersey Gateway Bridge project in north-west England. The inspector’s report from last summer’s public inquiry investigates the plans to build a new bridge over the River Mersey between Runcorn and Widnes.

The UK Government is now considering the report on the proposed Mersey Gateway Bridge project in north-west England.

The inspector’s report from last summer’s public inquiry investigates the plans to build a new bridge over the River Mersey between Runcorn and Widnes. Although there has been a delay in the report being passed to government the project team says it is looking forward to the work being approved in time for the procurement process to startlater in the year.

The project team is undertaking crucial preparation work so that construction can start within two years of the project receiving approval.
