Philippines expressway extension project planned

San Miguel (SMC) plans to extend the Skyway Stage 3 project in the Philippines. The link will measure close to 15km long and will provide a new route to and from eastern Metro Manila. San Miguel (SMC) plans to extend the Skyway Stage 3 project in the Philippines. The link will measure close to 15km long and will provide a new route to and from eastern Metro Manila. The US$843.6 million project is intended to carry a high proportion of heavy vehicles, currently using other routes. This six lane stretch of elevated tollroad is being built to provide a link between the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) and South Luzon Expressway (SLEx). The route of the new extension section looks likely to run through C-3, the Pasig River and the San Juan River and will be the last of three phases Metro Manila Skyway System to be built.

    Proposals to link the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) and North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) have been approved by the government of the Philippines. The proposals came from Citra Metro Manila Tollways (Citra) and Metro Pacific Investments Corp (MPIC). Citra intends to develop a US$580.64million six-lane elevated tollway stretching 14km.     Construction work is starting in the Philippines for the new link that will connect the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) and the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx). The project is costing nearly US$430 million, with the link being built by local toll road firm NLEX Corp. The new link road will be 8km long, running from the end of Harbor Link in Caloocan City to the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) in Santa Mesa of Manila.
