Philippines bridge projects planned

Plans are in hand in the Philippines for a series of bridge construction projects. Two of the key bridge projects are for links between Luzon and Samar Island and from Leyte Island to Surigao. The work is expected to cost some US$3.85 billion. Construction work could commence in early 2018.

    A US$403 million contract for a cable-stayed bridge in the Philippines has been awarded. The design and build deal for the 8.2km bridge will be handled by a joint venture team comprising Acciona Construccion, First Balfour and DM Consunji. The partnership is called the Cebu Link Joint Venture and should complete work on the link, which connects Cebu with Cordova, in 2021.     Plans are being set out for improvements to the key road connection linking Slovenia with Austria. The proposals call for a second Karavanke Tunnel.
