Philippines bridge project awarded

A US$403 million contract for a cable-stayed bridge in the Philippines has been awarded. The design and build deal for the 8.2km bridge will be handled by a joint venture team comprising Acciona Construccion, First Balfour and DM Consunji. The partnership is called the Cebu Link Joint Venture and should complete work on the link, which connects Cebu with Cordova, in 2021. The contract was awarded by the Cebu Cordova Link Expressway, a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways. Included in the contract is the construction of the Cebu South Coastal Road viaduct.

    Leighton Holdings and DM Consunji have been chosen by Metro Pacific Investment to develop the Cavite-Laguna Expressway – Calax -- project in the Philippines. This 47km route will run along the coast to the south of capital Manila, with its north eastern end lying close to the city’s international airport. The route connects Cavitex in Cavite's Kawit with the SLEx-Mamplasan Interchange in Laguna's Biñan. The project will improve connections to the airport as well as from Manila to the southern end of Luzon.
