Peru road concessions announced

Peru's Transport Ministry has announced a series of new road concession deals in the country. One of the key concessions approved is for the road between Ica and Arequipa along the Panamericana Sur highway. Another concession due to be awarded is for section four of Longitudinal de la Sierra high connecting Huancayo and Abancay.

    The US$396 million upgrade of the Tumba Muerto-Via Israel road in Panama City, including four flyovers and four tunnels to alleviate traffic jams, is expected to be completed by the end of December 2013.   • Series of road projects due for Peru

    A major road building programme is expected in Peru in due course. The country’s Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) in Peru is planning 12 road concessions that will extend some 4,740km. These concessions will be worth in excess of US$3 billion in the period up to 2016. Peru’s Government wants to continue progress made so far in improving connectivity in the country and also with its neighbours.
