An extension project is being planned for the Southern Beltway in the US state of Pennsylvania. The work is being planned by the 4908 Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and this stretch is expected to cost over US$87 million. The plans call for the construction of a 2.9km addition to the Southern Beltway at Cecil Township. The work includes the construction of two bridges that will cross Route 50 as well as a stretch of railway and the Millers Run Road, while a third bridge will link Route 50 with the Cecil Reissing route and another will span the Cecil Sturgeon Road. The work forms part of a bigger project to extend the Southern Beltway by a total of 21km, with a cost of $800 million and is due for completion in 2020. So far four of the eight contracts for the Southern Beltway Extension project have been awarded.
