Panama plans projects

Panama City will benefit from four road contracts worth a total of US$112.4 million awarded to deal with transport upgrades.

Panama City will benefit from four road contracts worth a total of US$112.4 million awarded to deal with transport upgrades. A Colombian contractor 1336 Conalvias will construct new viaducts over Avendia de Los Martires and Avenida La Amistad, in deals worth US$29.3 million and $20.5 million respectively. The Panama-based contractor 2543 Transcaribe Trading will transform the transport infrastructure of Tocumen in a deal worth $35.9 million. Contractor 1334 MCM Global Consorcio Intersecciones will handle bridge project over Avenida Omar Torrijos and Constructora Meco worth $22.5 million and $24.7 million respectively. The work is being carried out for the 1337 Panamanian Ministry Of Public Works (MOP) and is due for completion in the first half of 2012.

The country’s Ministry of Public Works (MOP) has plan for some US$2.95 billion of road development projects over the next five years. One of the key projects will be to upgrade the Howard-Puente Centenario road. Other important projects being prioritised include the construction of new access roads to the Tocumen international airport's cargo terminal as well as new road links that will help boost logistics.
