Panama continues to plan improved road links

Three key highway upgrade projects are planned in Panama. Improvement work on the Divisa-Las Tablas road is being split into two sections while the third is for upgrades to the David-Boquete road and the total value of these three contracts has been estimated at US$283 million.

Three key highway upgrade projects are planned in Panama. Improvement work on the Divisa-Las Tablas road is being split into two sections while the third is for upgrades to the David-Boquete road and the total value of these three contracts has been estimated at US$283 million. The first project is for the widening of a 40km section of the Divisa-Chitre road to four lanes as well as the construction of 13 pedestrian and vehicle bridges as and this is expected to cost $105.3 million. The second is for the extension of the La Villa-Las Tablas road, which also includes 10 pedestrian bridges and four flyovers, at a cost of $70 million. The cost of the expansion of the David-Boquete road has been set at $108 million. These last two projects are still open for tenders with the deadline set at 26th April 2010.
