Pakistan highway project commencing

Construction work is due to commence on Pakistan’s Hyderabad-Sukkur Motorway. The route will connect Sukkur and Hyderabad and will be 296km in length. This new stretch is costing US$1.53 billion and will form part of the Peshawar-Karachi Motorway (PKM). The plans call for the project to be carried out under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model, although the details have yet to be finalised.

  • Work commencing on New Zealand expressway project

    Construction work is commencing on the Hamilton section of New Zealand’s Waikato Expressway. The work is valued at US$$653.7 million (NZ$973 million). The stretch forms part of the 102km Waikato Expressway project. Construction work for the project will include building new pedestrian and cycling links, as well as five interchanges and 17 bridges.   • Zimbabwe highway project moving forward

    Austrian firm Geiger International now looks set to commence work on Zimbabwe’s massive highway project. The new highway will run from its border with Zambia in the north of the country to its border with South Africa in the south of Zimbabwe. The largest of this most recent set of highway projects to be announced is for the US$1.24 billion NLEx-Cavitex Port Expressway Link put forward. Measuring 15km the route would be constructed featuring four lanes. This proposed link would connect the Cavite Expressway and North Luzon Expressway in Metro Manila.
