New Zealand's Government is now setting budgets for transport improvements. In Auckland transport projects look set to commence following a design agreement worth US$10.52 million. This will be for the $937 million eastern suburban transport projects package.

New Zealand’s road safety levels continue to improve according to the latest official traffic statistics. Since the 1st of January 2011, there have been 241 road deaths in New Zealand, a notable drop from the 311 recorded in 2010. The figures come from the NZ Transport Agency, which also points out that there were 332 road deaths in 2009, 346 in 2007 and 299 in 2008.
