Colombian construction firm Odinsa is looking to become one of the country's major concession operators. The ambitious company has put forward a new proposal for a public-private partnership for the repair and maintenance of 1,768km of roads that are the responsibility of Invias. In the second half of 2014, the launch date for an expressway project connecting Sejong and Seoul will be announced by the South Korean government. The expressway is set to ease traffic congestion in the Jungbu and Gyeongbu motorways. The project will cost an estimated US$6.57 billion (KRW 6.7 trillion), with the expressway spanning 129kms. It is due for completion by 2022.
Malaysia’s West Coast Expressway company has reported that it will inject nearly US$425 million into its West Coast Expressway project.
Total cost of the West Coast Expressway, which will stretch 233km between Banting in Selangor state and Taiping in Perak state on the Malaysian peninsula, is expected to be around $1.56 billion.
The highway will be built over five years as a build-operate-transfer project with a concession of 50 years, The Star newspaper reported in February 2014.
China is offering an interest-free US$130 million loan to Pakistan for construction of the Gwadar East Bay Expressway in the southwest port of Gwadar.
The proposed 19km expressway will connect the Gwadar Port with the Mekran Coastal Highway, passing along the east bay of Gwadar City.
The loan is part of a wider financing deal whereby China has a converted $225.5 million loan for the Gwadar International Airport into a loan.
