The Philippines Government appointed National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Investment Coordination Committee-Cabinet Committee (ICC-CabCom) has approved the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) project.
Simplex Infrastructures, the Indian construction firm, has emerged as the low bidder for the third phase deal for Oman's Batinah Expressway. The firm submitted a US$ 301.12million (OMR 301.12million) bid for the work. Some 16 firms are bidding for the deal, which involves building 34km of the 265km road. The second lowest bid of US$322million (OMR 124.4million) was submitted by both Turkey's Makyol Gulf and Oman Roads Engineering. Kumpulan Europlus (KE) and the Malaysian government have signed a deal for the construction of the West Coast Expressway. The multi-million dollar deal will see KE build the 233km highway.
Manila North Tollways Corp (MNTC) has started work on stage two of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) in the Philippines. The US$245.76 million (PHP 10bn) stage involves an 8km road between the Harbour Link and the Smart Connect Interchange in Manila. The project also includes the construction of Segment Nine and Segment 10, earmarked for completion in 12 and 24 months respectively. Segment Nine will connect MacArthur Highway with the Valenzuela NLEX Main via a 2.4km link and costs $41.7 million (PHP 1.7bn),
