Approval has been given for the construction of a bridge in Vietnam’s Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province. The new Phuoc An Bridge project will connect key highways with the deep water port facilities at Cai Mep-Thi Vai.

The project is expected to cost US$210 million. The bridge will be around 3.5km in length and will span the Thi Vai River. The design will give sufficient clearance to allow vessels of up to 30,000tonnes to pass underneath.

The structure will provide a new link between Nhon Trach District and the ports facilities at Cai Mep-Thi Vai. This port area lies a short distance from Ho Chi Minh City and is of key importance for Vietnam’s international imports and exports.

Part of the funding for the new bridge will come from the state budget, while another portion will be provided from the budget for the province.
